SUMMARY:ECRS June Weekend - June 10-12\, 2022
DESCRIPTION:2026 Summer Weekend at Camp Onas\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\nWe are excited to reunite with friends and newcomers at our in-person ECRS June Weekend!  The Murray Grove Retreat and Renewal Center is a 20-acre partially wooded campus\, located near Toms River\, New Jersey.  With a history of over 240 years\, this site boasts an outdoor in-ground salt-water pool\, an eleven-circuit labyrinth\, walking trails in a 200-acre wildlife preserve immediately adjacent\, and more. \n\n\nA limited number of air-conditioned\, double occupancy\, indoor rooms are available.  Requests for private rooms will not be possible.  Also available are campsites for those who want to pitch their own tent with access to the 2 indoor buildings for toilets and showers.  (No platform tents as we have had in the past at Camp Onas.)  If we fill all the rooms\, nearby hotels and motels are possible.  Unfortunately\, we are unable to reserve a block of rooms anywhere. \n\n\n\n \n\n \n Register Now\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSITE:\nMurray Grove Retreat and Renewal Center\n\n\n431 N. Main Street\nLanoka Harbor\, NJ 08734-0246\n(also listed as 431 US Highway 9 at Church Lane)\n\nFor more information:  https://murraygrove.org\n\nArrive as early as 3pm Friday and stay as late as 1pm on Sunday.  The scheduled program runs from 6pm Friday until 12pm on Sunday.\nSaturday evening dinner is the only meal that will be provided.  You bring (or purchase off-site) all other meals.\nPlease bring cooperative Snacks to share that do not need any kitchen preparation.  The kitchen at Murray Grove is unavailable.  ECRS will provide paper plates\, plasticware\, etc.\n\nPlease note:\n\nECRS events are fragrance free.\nAll participants are asked to volunteer for one hour to help the weekend run smoothly.  We’ll have plenty of cooperative tasks that you can choose from and sign up to do.\nSmoking is limited to the outdoors.\n\n\n\n\nStaff Coordinators: Sharon Underberg & Heather Klemanski\n\n\n\n\nRegistrar: Zsusza Nagy \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Classes:\n \n \n \n \n \n Hanging in the Balance with Kay Gering\n Inspired by Alexander Calder’s mobiles\, we will use needle-nose pliers to twist those much-berated wire clothing hangers into beautiful mobiles. Bring any odd earrings or trinkets you may have that would hang nicely from your mobile. Class size is limited. Please register in advance.\n\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n Origami for Peace with Kay Gering\n \n\nOrigami cranes became a symbol of peace after a young Japanese girl named Sadako Sasaki folded 1600 cranes hoping her wish for peace would be granted. We can wish for peace in Ukraine and throughout the world as we fold cranes of varying sizes and colors. Other origami forms will also be available for those who would like to try another shape. Class size is limited. Please register in advance. \n\n\n\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n Songful Games with Julie Lipson\n \n\nCome play songful games! For example\, we’ll play word-association\, but with songs instead! Can you think of all the songs you know that have the word “blue” in them? Fast-paced\, with elements of improv and teamwork– these games will make you laugh (and sing)!\n\n\n\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n Songlibs with Julie Lipson\n \n\n\n\n\nYou’ve heard of madlibs…well\, this is songlibs! We’ll create our own fill-in-the-blank songs based on popular songs we already know. Here’s an example songlib lyric: “Bye bye Miss American __noun__.” Silliness and creativity abound within a structured format! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n The Write Stuff with Beverly Pincus\n \n\n\n\n\nIn this class people will write a personal essay\, drawing from their own life experiences. The class will start with warm-up exercises designed to stimulate creativity and overcome writing blocks. A very structured feedback process will be explained\, which will only include positive feedback — what resonates with or moves the listener\, etc. This helps create a safe environment for people to read their writing out loud. The rest of the workshop will be participants writing to a series of prompts. Examples include write about a family dinner\, write about a secret\, write in the voice of one of your body parts. I will end the class with the creation of a group poem. Fun! Class size is limited. Please register in advance. Age 15+. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n Games with Arnie Zacharias\n \n\n\n\n\nGames for all ages! Various levels of activity and abilities are included.  Emphasis is on having fun\, interacting and getting in touch with your playfulness and problem-solving skills.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n Informal Dramatics with Arnie Zacharias\n \n\n\n\n\nInformal Drama lets you discover your creative dramatic abilities through participation in dramatic games and exercises.  You’ll help to plan skits in groups and practice and perform for the class.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n The Art of Expression with Heather Klemanski\n \n\n\n\n\n\nCreate shared and individual inclusive space in this exciting nonstop guided dance/movement improvisation process.   Starting with a guided meditation\, then incorporating various movement meditations\, dance\, play\, and improvisation structures\, participants will interact in expressive group motion.  This is an opportunity to express creatively through movement by tapping into fluid interaction and self-discovery. Age 10+\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n Folk Dancing with Sharon Underberg \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCombining music\, rhythm\, movement\, and a bit of heart\, we will explore folk dances from around the corner to around the world.
