SUMMARY:Summer 2020 Virtual Ice Cream Socials
DESCRIPTION:Summer 2020 Virtual Ice Cream Socials\n July 28th and 30th\, 2020 from 7:00-9:00 pm EDT on Zoom\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Connect and play the new ECRS way… (from the comfort of your couch)\nSince Virtual Camp Onas\, we’ve been cooking up ideas to keep up the ECRS energy. For another taste of ECRS magic\, grab your bowl and join us for a series of Virtual Ice Cream Socials. \nEach social will kick off with a half  hour of group activities (think Evening Program)\, followed by the chance to socialize in smaller\, themed breakout rooms. The beauty of smaller Zoom rooms is being able to really talk to other people – kind of like sitting at a table together at an in-person event. You’ll be able to choose what room (or rooms!) you visit\, and wander in and out as you like. \nSupport ECRS with your $5 registration (yes\, we still have costs – like insurance\, website hosting and maintenance – and we’re not holding in-person events to recoup those) the event will cost $5 per person (even if on the same device…). Note that you have to register to get a Zoom link to join.  \nScroll down for more details and to register\nOr click here to just go straight to registration\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Breakout room possible themes\nHere are some breakout room themes we’re kicking around. Really the possibilities are endless\, so we’ll pick different ones for each night. You never know who you might run into. That’s half the fun! \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Survivor\nDo you like adventure? Do you like competition? This room may be for you! \nGreat Green Gardens\nTalk about your garden. \nBinge With Me\nWhat have you been watching on Netflix\, Hulu\, etc.? \nFurry Family\nGot pets? Me too. Talk about them. \nThe Reading Room\nWhat have you been reading recently? \nFood Fandom\nWhat have you been cooking? \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Facts and Factoids\nLearned anything cool recently? \nNostalgia for the Before Times\nWhat do you miss from the pre-COVID world? \nFlights of Fantasy\nWhere do you hope/plan to travel post-pandemic? \nMusical Musings\nHave you been learning an instrument? Have you been listening to a new band? Is there a record on repeat? Share! \nVacation Recommendations\nPersonal & / or Family Favorites; Places to Hike\, Eat\, Art\, Music\, Snorkel\, Beaches\, Lakes\, State & National Parks… Wherever you want to go! \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Location and site description\nThe event will be held at various locations around the globe\, primarily (maybe exclusively) in the United States and Canada. SUMMARY:2020 Virtual Onas
DESCRIPTION:Connect\, create and play - Virtual Camp Onas\n June 13\, 2020 from 2:00-5:00 pm EDT on Zoom\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Share fun and fellowship from the comfort of your couch!\nLast year’s summer weekend at Camp Onas featured our young (or young adult\, really) leaders. To make sure our members stay safe in the time of Covid19\, this year’s in-person weekend has been cancelled. But the ECRS spirit lives on! \nFollowing the success of our Virtual Play Party\, we’re planning a three-hour ECRS extravaganza on the Saturday of our traditional Camp Onas Weekend. We’re working with leaders to craft the best experience possible. Stay tuned for more details coming soon.     \nTo download a helpful “Zoom Tricks and Tips” sheet\, click here. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n First period classes (30 minutes)\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Joy of Movement\, by Judi Powers and Marko Schmale\n Come move\, heal\, sing a little\, and enjoy a few basic NIA routines with Judi and Marko. NIA is a combination of healing arts (yoga)\, martial arts\, and dance.  \nRequirements: Wear comfortable clothes and shoes (or no shoes at all!). You can participate in a seated or standing position.  Plan to give yourself some room to move around. \n \n \n \n \n \n Create a booklet from one sheet of paper by Jacquie Adain\n I’ll guide you in making an 8 page booklet from one sheet of 8 1/2″ x 11″ sheet of paper.  Because I’m using an iPad enrollment will be limited to 11 screens (more than one person sharing a screen is okay).   \nYou will need: at least one sheet of 8 1/2″ x 11″ sheet of ordinary paper (recycling bonus – good one side is perfect!)\, scissors and a pencil. Coloured pencils\, markers or crayons are optional.   \nYou will also need a flat surface on which to work. Join me and learn a new skill!  (The only caution is potential paper cuts.) \nClass size limited to eleven screens (two people can be on one screen) This class is currently full and waitlist-only (06-05-2020)\n \n \n \n \n \n Gardening Reflections with Kim Neubauer\n Feeling grounded these days? Uprooted? This virtual workshop will use gardening as inspiration for self reflection and conversation. We’ll share gardening experiences along with playful or insightful thoughts. Maybe you’ll get lucky and learn something new – about gardening or yourself! \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Second period classes (30 minutes)\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n How of Happiness\, by Trevor Smith\n This class is currently full and waitlist-only (06-09-2020)Happiness is more than something that just magically lands on us: it’s a muscle we can build and develop. In this fun and informative personal empowerment class\,  we’ll share evidenced-based techniques and strategies to add to your well-being tool box and make happiness a consistent practice in your life. Using positive activity interventions  and exercises filled with laughter\,  you will experience\, explore\, and expand on the practices of happiness\, gratitude\, and play. You’ll get to practice a variety of active\, happiness-enhancing activities  while connecting with like-minded folks in this remote learning experience.  \nClass size limited to 25 \n \n \n \n \n \n Charades\, by David Geron-Neubauer\n Do you like full sentences and explaining yourself? \nToo bad! Forget your dictionary and join us for a noisy\, grammatically-incomplete game of CHARADES. Race against the timer to describe words with only body movements. Note: this is a great class to shout at your computer screen while someone else makes their body move in ways you can only guess (literally). \nClass size limited to 30Note that you’ll be doing the actual charades in smaller groups in breakout rooms (not with 30 people at once!) \n \n \n \n \n \n Informal Dramatics\, by Robin Bady\n Let’s have fun with informal dramatics!  Playing theater games will stretch our imaginations\, spark our creativity\, and develop some of those wild characters hiding inside. Wear your PJs (the informal part)\, but please\, no drama\, only dramatics!  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Third Period Classes (50 minutes)\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Solo Scenes\, By Glenn Lebwohl-Steiner\n This class is currently full and waitlist-only (06-09-2020)How much can you say in 30 seconds? Guide your partner as they explore character\, relationships\, and objectives presented in these short monologues. Grab a small slice of your character’s life and dig in. Watch as a window opens on just a moment in our characters’ lives. \nWe’ll be doing 30 second monologues practiced in pairs. This allows us to leave only 15 minutes for performance\, giving us 15-20 minutes of rehearsal. \nClass size limited to 14You’ll get your monologue scripts in class \n \n \n \n \n \n Writing from the Heart\, by Beverly Pincus\n This class is currently full and waitlist-only (06-09-2020)If you can write\, you can WRITE! In a safe\, supportive\, and nurturing environment we will share these stories within small groups. This class is for people who always wanted to write and never thought they could\, experienced writers with a regular writing practice\, and everyone in between. There’s nothing tedious or tiresome here. Young and old alike enjoy a diverse array of classes (improv to introspection\, crafts to collaborating games\, and much more!). There are breaks and free time for relaxing or leading your own recreational activities (or exploring in the woods or going into town). A dedicated children’s program (staff-led for first morning and afternoon class periods; cooperative-led for second morning period) makes sure our youngest members have as much fun as the grown ups during class times.  \nIt’s about communityMeals are served family-style at large round tables. Although targeted to the interests of ECRS Staff\, they are open to anyone who leads groups of any kind. \nLight facilitation will help to catalyze sharing ideas and experiences. This year’s topic is “Choosing Your Leadership Approach”. We may discuss what leadership means to you or what are  your preferred roles (teacher\, performer\, facilitator\, lecturer\, trainer\, manager or leading from within). \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Children’s Program with Tim Siftar\nElementary ages\nWhy should the grown ups have all the fun? ECRS offers a completely integrated program for children ages 5-11 during the first morning\, and afternoon class periods. Many activities mirror the cooperative play that ECRS is built on. Children may learn new games\, create new crafts\, sing silly songs\, or even get the chance to share activities they have fun doing at home. Depending on age and interest\, they may take a field trip to experience the more kid-friendly adult classes! \nNote: Children are expected to stay for the entire program\, and are the responsibility of their guardians at all other times. To help finalize staffing\, this program will be offered only if children are registered by December first. \n \nPreschool age\nIf you have youngsters ages 2–4\, we will provide supervised play for them during the morning first class period and afternoon periods. Parents or guardians are welcome\, but not required\, to join us. Please email Donna Miller-Small\, business manager\, at dmillersmall@optonline.net if you have children younger than five and want to come to WA2019!\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Site\nWatson Homestead is a conference center on 600 beautiful acres near Corning\, NY. We’re ideally situated for winter sports and local attractions\, including sledding\, hiking\, and the nearby Corning Museum of Glass. NOTE: Watson Homestead is wheelchair accessible. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n Accommodation options   \nMain Lodge: Dorm-style rooms with twin or bunk beds\, shared bath; guests must bring sheets and towels. Cost = $215 per room ($265 for a single) \nWest Wing (attached to Main Lodge): Hotel-style rooms with two double beds\, private bath and carpeting; all linens (blankets\, sheets\, towels and pillows) are supplied. Cost = $430 per room ($650 for a single) \nHillside (short walk up a hill from Main Lodge): There may be a limited number of rooms with shared bath in this two-story house; guests must bring sheets and towels. Cost = $340 per room ($540 for singles \n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n New housing this year – Retreat Center\nThis year you’ll have the option of staying in Watson’s newly renovated Retreat Center\, an attractive\, (slightly) less expensive option than the main building located a short way down the road (less than a 5-10 minute walk from the Main Lodge). \nThe Retreat Center has eight 8×10 foot bedrooms\, each with two bunk beds. Each room has a dresser and window\, and the building has two shared bathrooms and its own thermostat for heating. A fireplace\, living room and refrigerator complete the experience. Cost $160 per room. \nThey’re great for people who want to economize by sharing a room with others and don’t mind being a bit away from the hubbub in the main building (it’s also quieter – but note that although the area is somewhat lit up at night\, you’ll need a flashlight). Using the Retreat Center will also help make room for more people to join in the Winter Adventure fun! \nFor pictures of the Retreat Center\, click here.  \n \n \n \n \n \n				 New room and board pricing model\n\n\nSeparate pricing for room and meals\n\n\nTransparent\, per-room pricing\n\n\nWe’ve adjusted the fees for room and board to give a better sense of what you are paying for. Rooms are priced per room\, no matter whether there are two\, three or four sharing the room. Each attendee will pay for their portion of the total. Note that there is a premium minimum pricing for singles. \nMeals are $195 per person for the event\, or less than $40/day.  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n West Wing\n$430/room $650 (single) \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Main Lodge\n$215/room $265 (single) \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Hillside\n$340 (single) \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Retreat Center\n$160/room \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n We are experimenting with pay-what-you-can pricing! \nWe feel this reflects the cooperative nature of ECRS – from each according to their abilities\, to each according to their needs. The pricing shown in the registration field is the “break-even cost” – how much we pay to Watson (including costs like insurance\, gratuity\, PayPal fees\, etc.) or to staff to cover the event. If everyone paid this amount for every line item\, the event would neither gain nor lose money. If you can pay more\, you’ll be supporting others who might not be able to afford to come. \nHow does “pay-what-you-can” work?\nThe amount you see on the registration form gives you a sense of the cost to ECRS\, but it is not fixed. You can adjust the amount you pay for room\, meals\, and programming – which covers the costs of putting on a fabulous WA above room and board. Note that for premium single rooms\, there is a minimum fee for room. \nHow to choose how much to pay?\nIf you can afford to pay more to help someone who might not otherwise be able to attend\, please pay above the WA cost listed in the price field. \nIf break-even pricing will strain your budget\, pay what you are able.  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Day(s) \n \n : \n \n \n Hour(s) \n \n : \n \n \n Minute(s) \n \n : \n \n \n Second(s)

DESCRIPTION:Connect\, create and play - youth-led Camping Weekend\n June 7-9\, 2019 Camp Onas\, Ottsville\, PA\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Calling people of all ages and walks of life to share fun and fellowship at the ECRS Camping Weekend!\nWe’re excited this year to highlight our young (or young adult\, really) leaders at Camp Onas 2019. We know that they will bring energy and originality to the weekend. \n\nNewcomers and ECRS veterans alike will enjoy the chance to focus on a theme in daytime classes – whether dancing\, singing\, informal dramatics\, crafts\, or games. Then at Evening Program everyone comes together as a community to dance\, sing\, play games\, and socialize over snacks. \n \nStaff Coordinators – Cassie Rubin and David Geron-Neubauer\n\n\n\n\n\n \nScroll down to register. Come…  and bring a friend! \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Experience the “Fountain of Youth” weekend with activities to engage your senses\, build community\, and nurture leadership. Find your perfect classes from those below…\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Experimenting with Dance (JP McDevitt)\n Start with a traditional dance\, spice it up with a rock version of the same dance\, then fit those steps to different music. Play with this concept some more\, blending the familiar with the new. Something out of left field like a Virginia reel to Madonna?! Perhaps some light choreography by the end of the class (no pressure on results!) \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Hat Game (Rachael & Josh Silverbauer)\n Put games into hats\, pick them out and play for about 10 minutes each. You know it will be a blast! \nThis class has limited room and will only allow for ten participants by sign up only. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Games with Papers and Pencils (Rachael & Josh Silverbauer\n Creative games to play witth just these materials in a group -ex: create creature together (one person creates the top half & the other draws bottom half without seeing the top half) \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Late Night Dances (Catherine Woods)\n Learn some of the traditional NYE dances that we do every year (after the ice cream!) at Winter Workshop. They’re a blast then… they’ll be even more fun if you get some extra practice in! \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Crafts (Catherine Woods and Naomi Wattles)\n Explore making our own pigments and paint brushes/tools out of natural & nature found materials (berries\, twigs\, feathers\, etc.) \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Road Trip Games (David Geron-Neubauer)\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nBored with your friends? Don’t have your phone\, a gameboy\, some cards\, or paper and pen? Car games are a perfect solution! This class will use your words\, hands\, imagination\, and the world around you to scratch that boredom itch. Games like “Contact\,” “Eye Spy\,” “21 Questions\,” “Fortunately/Unfortunately” will thrill the mind and make that road trip seem a lot less long. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Mindfulness (Cassie Rubin)\n Feeling stressed? Come explore ways to cope with everyday life and situations that seem beyond your control. When you turn your attention inward\, you learn that your own mental capacity can truly turn your life around! \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Improv (Isaac Lebwohl-Steiner)\n Play a part\, explore a character\, be yourself or someone completely different. Skills for Life: Come\, create\, and be spontaneous. Through theater games and simple fun scenes we will learn the basic skills of how to be a good improviser both onstage and in life. No improv or theater experience necessary to join the merriment. (Ages 11+) \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Active Games (Isaac Lebwohl-Steiner)\n \n\n\n\nA class where fun is compulsory! This is a chance to be together\, play together\, and let your hair down. We’ll play some new games\, some old games\, some inclusive and some cooperative (mostly). There’ll be quiet games and raucous ones. You’ll have a chance to work your mind as well as your body and to laugh. Please wear safe footwear and a smile. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Pool Games (Jack Marquess)\n Onas wouldn’t be Onas without pool games. Jack will advise\, but is handing the reins to a young leader. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Children’s Program with Tim Siftar\nAges 5-11\nECRS offers a completely integrated program for children ages 5-11 during the morning class period on both Saturday and Sunday.
